Dixie Chicks

Our Chicks went to Williamsburg for the USSSA State Championship and finished 3rd in the "A" class. We had tough games all weekend and lost in 8 innings to the Storm in the semi-finals. We played great defense all weekend, just came up a little short hitting. We will continue to get better and hopefully win another tournament soon. We have played in 5 so far, finished 1st twice, 2nd once and 3rd twice. Not bad at all. See you at practice on Tuesday at Watkins at 7:00 p.m. GO CHICKS !!

Our Chicks finished 3rd at Dorey Park in the Rock-N-Fire tournament. We played great ball most of the weekend but came up a little short in the semi-final game. We went 4-1 in the tournament and beat Fire and Ice in a classic 1-0 game on Saturday. We need to work on some things at practice to get ready for the State Championship next weekend. We are 16-3 for the season and we are still one of the best teams in the area and I'm looking for big things from you ladies in the States, As always GO CHICKS !!

Our Chicks did it once again. They found a way to win the Tri-Cities Invitational in a fashion we havn't seen before. They did it coming from behind twice and tying the game in the 7th inning and winning it the 11th inning after both teams had numerous opportunites in all the extra innings. Our Chicks showed great courage and they never quit as they got out of bases loaded jams in the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th innings. This was a Classic Championship Game as we finally pulled it out in the 11th by scoring 3 runs and ending the Storm's championship dreams beating them 8-5. This was a total team effort and I was proud to be a part of it. This was one of the best games I have ever been a part of, let's keep the momentum rolling next week in Lynchburg. Our Chicks travelled to Raleigh, North Carolina to play because of all the rain in Richmond and finished the tournament with a respectable 2nd place finish. We went 5-2 for the weekend beating everybody except the Wake Forest Rockers. I'm glad we went because all we would have done is watch it rain in Richmond. We got to play some very good teams and we played well at times. I'm looking forward to the next one. As always, GO CHICKS!!

Our Chicks finish first in the rain-shortened Chesterfield Round-up. Don't ever think bracket games don't count on Saturday because by going 3-0 and allowing the least amount of runs, The Chicks get first place hardware and a free entry into Petersburg Invitational on May 31st. We got great pitching and defense from our Chicks and some timely hitting made us the winner. You know how I feel about winning and doing in the first time out is a great way to start. Let's go out and do it again next week. As always, GO CHICKS!!
