Chicks start Fall going 3-0

Posted by Allan Spencer at Sep 3, 2016 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Chicks got our Fall season underway today and started the season strong winning all 3 games in our annual Labor Day Round Robin Friendly at LC Bird High School. The weather was beautiful as temperatures were in the 70's for the first time in a long time here in town, as everyone knows we have been battling 90's and 100 degree days on a regular basis this whole Summer. We played nearly flawless defense and got some very solid pitching from all the pitchers. I was really pleased with the way we swung the bats also. We had some big hits at big times and that is what makes a great team. I do think we are going to get better also as we get more practice time and play more ballgames together. I'm really excited for the new season. We have practice next Sunday, Sept. 11 at 11:00 Midlothian High School to get ready for the ASA Heartland Showcase in Salem. I expect some tough competition. Stats are posted, as always GO CHICKS !!! image

Chicks finish Summer in Myrtle Beach

Posted by Allan Spencer at Aug 1, 2016 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Chicks finished our Summer this past weekend in hot and humid Myrtle Beach at Triple Crown Nationals and went 5-2 for the tournament. It's hard to believe that the Summer season is done as it seems it just got started. We finished our season with 36 wins and just 5 losses and 3 ties. The girls should be proud of themselves as we had a great season and did finish the season as State Champs for the 3rd year in a row. This tournament is always tough for me as I have to say goodbye to some great kids that are headed to College in just a few short weeks. I get attached to these kids and I feel like they are my own kids after coaching them, some have been here longer than others but I will miss them all. I wish them all the best in College and I'm positive these 2016 grads with do big things in school and in softball. If any of you need someone to talk to about softball or life in general, call me anytime. I'm always here for all my grads. Also remember rule #3, that will become important as you get older. We will be back on the field to start our Fall season in a couple weeks. I'm looking forward to getting back at it with the returning players and the new faces also. Final stats for the season are posted, as always GO CHICKS !!! image

Chicks go 4-1 at the Beach

Posted by Allan Spencer at Jul 17, 2016 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Chicks went back on the road to Virginia Beach for the PGF Summer Scorcher after our week off and not much changed. All Elimination play was canceled again because of rain but we did get our showcase games in and went 4-1 against some good competition. We have a quick turn around this week as we play again on Thursday in the Cardinal Classic in Raleigh, NC. We get to face some more quality teams as we prepare for Nationals the following week in Myrtle Beach. We only have 2 tourneys left, we need to be playing our best ball now to finish this great season out strong. Our record for the Summer is now 26 wins and 2 losses and 2 ties. See you in Raleigh on Thursday. Stats are posted, as always GO CHICKS!!! image

Mitchell headed to Lynchburg

Posted by Allan Spencer at Jul 11, 2016 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Morgan Mitchell will be headed to Lynchburg College to continue her softball career after High School. Morgan verballed to Coach Dawn Simmons this week and we all wish her the best. Morgan is a hard worker and has improved her game every year since she has been a Chick. Morgan still has another season with us so she won't be leaving just yet. I'm very proud of her.  image
