Dixie Chicks

Our Chicks played some great ball last weekend but came up a little short in the Championship game and finished second to a very good Shenandoah Valley Mavericks team. We did play some great games over the weekend and all the coaches and parents were very proud of all the Chicks. See you Thursday at practice at Midlothian High School and no tourney this weekend. We play next in Williamsburg in the NSA States on June 25th and 26th. Have a fun weekend off because we don't have another for a month. As always, GO CHICKS !!

The Chicks played great ball all weekend and won their first tournament of the season. We went 5-1 with 4 shutouts and only gave up 4 runs total for the weekend. We got timely hitting and great pitching and defense all weekend. Let's keep the roll going this weekend in Charlottesville. As always, GO CHICKS !!

NSA announced the 2005 Worlds in Chattanooga Tenn. the week of July 24th thru July 30th. I sent out an e-mail to everyone about going to this tournament. I need the parents to reply to the e-mail and tell me if this is a yea or a nay. I don't have many choices because I need the 14 & under team to go with us because I can't spend 2 weeks at different places playing the Worlds. NSA has all age groups playing at the same place. Also, 3 years ago we did very well at the NSA Worlds finishing 3rd. Larry Jordan has added the whole season of pictures on his website. Our Chicks finish the 2004 fall season this weekend in Myrtle Beach S.C. Our pool games on Saturday are 8:00, 11:00, and 5:00. We play Pitt County Thunder from Greenville N.C., Wake Forest Rockers from Raleigh N.C. and Coastal Xpress from Wilmington N.C. in that order. We will need to play great ball all weekend to win the tourney and impress the college coaches in this showcase. As always, GO CHICKS!! Coaches take this opportunity to showcase your players with the possibility they can be seen. We are limiting entries from each state to ensure the geographical balance of the tournament. Teams get in early! All team checks are deposited, you must wait on being accepted if you cancel or withdraw once you have been notified that you have been accepted into the tournament and you have a reserved spot; you will be refunded one-half of the tournament entry fee; if you withdraw before Oct 12, 2004. Your total tournament fee is non-refundable if you cancel or withdraw from the tournament after Oct 12, 2004 (no exceptions and no substitutions allowed). Our Chicks had another good weekend going 5-1 and finishing 3rd at the Halloween Bash. We won all our pool games on Saturday beating the Ruckus 4-2, Chain Reaction 11-4 and Smithfield Galaxy 9-2. We also won our first 2 games on Sunday both by shutouts. We beat the West End Waves 5-0 and the Tornados 9-0 before losing to the eventual winners of the tournament Washington Senators 4-0. We put on quite a show hitting the ball the first 5 games then the bats went quiet in the semi-finals. It was still a good weekend and I'm looking forward to Myrtle Beach in 2 weeks.
