News and Announcements

Our Chicks played outstanding ball this weekend going 5-1 in the tournament. We did some great things such as coming from behind to beat Fire & Ice two different games, also beating Manassas Blaze once who knocked the Vipers out in the semi-finals. We did lose the championship game but we did not play bad we just got beat by a team that dropped in a bunch of hits everywhere. I was proud of everybody for giving the effort they gave all weekend. We are a good team and we got beat by a good team, it happens sometimes. I hope we get to play them again next weekend for the State Championship. As always, GO CHICKS !!

Chicks Win in Lynchburg

Our Chicks played great ball all weekend and walked away with some First place hardware. We went 5-0 this weekend and beat some pretty good teams in the process. All of the teams we beat are playing in the State Championship and the NSA Worlds in Salem. We hit the ball hard again this weekend and I was told for the second straight tournament that we hit the ball harder than any team there. Our pitching was awesome as usual and we made a lot of great defensive plays also. As always GO CHICKS !!

Chicks finish 2nd in Easter Bash

Posted by Allan Spencer at Apr 15, 2002 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Our Chicks finished 2nd to a very good Lady Eagles team from Va. Beach on Sunday. It was still a great showing for our team, losing 2-1 to one of the best programs in the state. I didn't sleep well Sunday night thinking about that call at the plate. I still think she was safe. We did play well on defense but we have to start putting the ball in play more often. We can't have as many strikeouts as we do. If you put the ball in play good things happen. I was still proud of everyone for hanging in there and playing hard to the end. Hurry back Molly, we miss you. See everyone at practice on Sunday, April 20th at Midlothian High School at 2:00. GO CHICKS!!

Chicks Win Spring Thaw

Posted by Allan Spencer at Apr 6, 2002 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Dixie Chicks won their first tournament of the season in Colonial Heights on Saturday in frigid conditions. It was really cold and the girls could have easily quit after losing a couple early games but they did not. They showed alot of heart and never gave up and it paid off in the end with a well named Spring Thaw Championship. The 2-1 win over the Tornados in the semi-finals was one of the best played games I've ever been associated with. The Championship win over Peninsula 6-2 was a great game also, just not quite as intense as the semis. We still have a long way to go girls, we have to work harder on making fewer errors in the field. We had more errors in every game yesterday than our opponents. We also have to work on the mental breakdowns we had a couple of times yesterday. It was still a great way to start a season and I couldn't be prouder to be associated with a great bunch of girls like yourselves. We have practice Thursday, April 11th at Watkins Elementary 7:00 p.m. We play next weekend in Petersburg, I will give everyone directions and game times on Thursday at practice. See you there, GO CHICKS.
