Dixie Chicks

Our Chicks travelled to Salem, Va. to play our first College Showcase Tournament and did well. We went 3-2 for the weekend but could have been 5-0. We lost 1 game 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh and the other 4-3 in eight innings to the eventual winner of the tournament Midlothian Thunderstix. We are playing good for just being together a few weeks but we need to learn how to close the deal. I expect we will over the next few weeks. The Chicks played their first tournament last weekend in Petersburg and played really good ball going 5-1 and finishing 2nd to the Lady Belles. We had four shutouts in the five wins. We outscored our opponents 28 to 6 for the tournament. We played great I thought for only 2 practices this fall. We have practice this Thursday at 6:00 at Bird High School to get ready for our College Showcase tournament this upcoming weekend in Salem. We started our 18 and under play in Williamsburg on June 3rd and 4th and finished 3rd place losing to the Ruckus 1-0 in the bottom of the 7th. Then came back the next weekend to finish 2nd in an ASA College Showcase losing to the Ruckus once again in the Championship. We are a very young 18U team and only playing more tournaments and quality opponents will make us better. I'm proud of the way the girls have stepped up to a new level and played very well. We play the NSA States this weekend in Salem, Pracice Thursday at 5:30. See you there, as always GO CHICKS !!

Our Chicks went to Petersburg to play our last tournament of the year in the Halloween Bash. We started out slow on Saturday in frigid weather conditions but as the weekend warmed up so did the Chicks. We finished the season with another 1st place finish by beating the Richmond Ruckus 3-1 in a very well played Championship game. Good Luck to all the girls with their High School teams this Spring and I'm already looking forward to a great Summer for the Chicks. We will have a meeting sometime in Jan. to get our schedule together and collect fees. Thanks for a great season ladies and as always, GO CHICKS !!

The Chicks went to Baltimore last weekend and won 3 games and tied 2 games in our first college showcase as a 18U team. We did win our pool beating a very good Sussex Storm team 3-1 on Sunday. We should have won every game but the clock ran out on us and we didn't play tiebreakers. I was very proud of all the girls, they played really well. I'm looing forward to this weekend's Fall State Championship in Petersburg, If we play like we did last weekend we will be USSSA State Champs as well as NSA State Champs.
