Dixie Chicks

The Chicks went on the road to Va. Beach for the USA Champions Cup and put on quite a show winning 4 games on Sunday and claiming our second Championship in a row. What a great way to finish the Fall, already looking forward to next Summer. We had some great games on both days. We lost the first game of the tournament on Saturday 5-4 and getting the tying run thrown out at the plate to end the game. We also won an 2 ITB game in the semi finals 12-10. We also beat the Stats National team 4-2 getting 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to break a 2-2 tie. I was really proud of our girls to come together short handed and finish the season so strong. The Chicks played in the College Exposure Showcase last weekend and put on quite a show going 6-0 and winning the Championship. We played as good as we have all Fall and seem to be peaking now. Only one tourney at Va. Beach left next weekend for the Fall. It seems like it just started. Let’s finish this season strong and win some more games at the Beach. The Chicks went on the road to Sterling and put on a good show winning our first 5 games but falling short in the Championship game. I was proud of the girls as they played hard all weekend. We fell behind in some games but never quit and found ways to win. We improved our fall record to 9-4 with only 3 tournaments remaing. We play this weekend in Warrenton and we know we will be a little shorthanded but we make no excuses. As always, GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks started another fall season this past Sunday in a round robin freindly at Lynchburg College and played well for our first time out. We have quite a few new faces on the team this year and we played like we had been together for awhile going 3-0 on the day. Defense, Pitching and Hitting all had their moments on Sunday and I was very proud of everyone. We need to keep it up this upcoming weekend in Salem for the Heartland Showcase. Stats are posted. The Chicks went on the road to Myrtle Beach and ended our season in Triple Crown Nationals with a strong 5-3 performance. It was scorching hot with heat indexes in the 100’s on the last 2 days but the girls played right thru it. We got to play teams from all over the country including Oklahoma, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Indiana, Pensylvania, Ohio, Georgia and Illinois and proved we could play with them all. It was a good time but it’s always tough saying good bye to Seniors that have been with you for awhile. I always want them to go off to college and have great careers but part of me would love them to stay and play with us a bit longer. The season went quickly as it was shortened because school ball lasted so long. Hopefully we will get back to a normal summer next year. I will miss them all my seniors and if any of you need anything I’m only a phone call away. Final stats are posted. As always, GO CHICKS !!!
