Spencer headed to UVA-Wise

Posted by Allan Spencer at Jan 19, 2016 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Kailyn Spencer will be continuing her softball career at UVA-Wise. Kailyn is a gritty right handed pitcher who helped Goochland High School advance deep into their playoffs last season. Kailyn will get plenty of pitching time this Spring for her high school and we are expecting big things from her this Summer with the Chicks. Kailyn is just a junior this season so we will have for 2 more Summers and 1 more Fall before she is off to become a Cavalier. We are all very proud of Kailyn as she is a hard worker and great teammate. image

Chicks finish Fall in Myrtle Beach

Posted by Allan Spencer at Nov 15, 2015 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Chicks went on the road for the final time in 2015 and finally got some decent weather. It was a little cool but it was dry and we saw no rain. We finished our fall season playing only 20 games because of all the rainouts and we only dropped 3 games. We played some good ball in Myrtle Beach and faced some good competition. I was especially proud of the team in our last game coming back from a 4-0 deficit to pull out a win. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to some off time as we have all been on the field since last Febuary. Enjoy your couple months off as Winter workouts and High School ball will be here before you know it. Our Winter workouts will start in Febuary as they do every year. Enjoy the Holidays, Final stats are posted, as always GO CHICKS!!! image

Chicks go 4-1 in Powhatan

Posted by Allan Spencer at Oct 25, 2015 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Chicks have been battling rain outs and rain shortened tournaments the whole fall but we finally got to play a full tournament and went 4-1 for the weekend. We still need to learn how to finish teams off when we have the chances. I think that will come as we haven't had the chance to play much this year. We only have a Myrtle Beach trip left for the season. We need to finish this fall off with some better play and more energy than we are showing right now. We are suppose to practice on Wednesday but that doesn't look as that will happen with rain expected all day. Stats are posted, as always GO CHICKS !!! image
The Chick went back to Salem again this past weekend and watched it rain all day on Saturday but the sun came out on Sunday and we finally got to play some ball. Our first game was nearly a 3 hour marathon that we finally pulled out in the bottom of the 10th inning. We had to come from behind in this game 4 different times and eventually won 7-6. Then we had to pull out our bracket Championship out in the last inning also. I was glad we finally got to play some ball as we have had numerous games canceled because of the wet weather this Fall. We played gutty ball to win both of those games against 2 really good teams and both in come from behind fashion. Next is Powhatan in a couple weeks, see you at practice on Wednesday. Great job ladies. Stats are posted, as always GO CHICKS !!!

Chicks moving on

Posted by Allan Spencer at Sep 29, 2015 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

3 more of our Chicks will be moving on to play softball in college. Erin Doyle, Maddie Stone and Laura Kate Moss have verballed to their schools and I couldn't be prouder of them. It always a special feeling for me when the girls that I have coached for years move on to play at the next level. Erin verbals to Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN but still has a couple more seasons with us. Maddie verbals to Randolph-Macon right here in the center of the universe and Laura Kate will be headed to Newports News to play at Christopher Newport next Fall. I'm sure they are all excited to get the recruiting process behind them and can just concentrate on playing ball and getting good grades. I will miss all 3 of you young ladies but I still have some more time with you so let's keep working hard and win some ball games !!! Way to go ladies.
