Dixie Chicks

The Chicks went on the road again this past weekend to Florence, SC and went 7-2 for the tournament and getting knocked out in the quarter finals to finish tied for 5th out of 48 teams. We had lots of elements to deal with over the weekend including rain, lightning, heat, humidity and injuries and still had a pretty good showing.  We aren't  going to win every tournament but we have still won three this summer with a second place and this fifth place finish. We also ran our Summer record to 38-6-1. We need to get some bodies healthy as we head to Virginia Beach this Friday to play again. This is our last chance to tune up before we finish in Florida the following week. Stats are posted, as always, GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks went to Virginia Beach last week for a long 4 day tourney and rolled off 10 straight wins to claim the Mid Summer Showcase Championship. Temperatures were soaring into the 100's every day and the Chicks bats were just as hot. We had great play from everyone at one time or another in this tourney, it took a total team effort to produce this championship and our depth helped out also. As other teams were wearing down from the heat we were still going strong. We had to come from behind to beat a tough Delaware Diamonds Gold team in the Championship 7-6 in ITB. The 10 more wins runs our Summer record to 31-4-1 with 3 tournament championships and 1 runner up finish. We get ready to head to Florence SC on Wednesday to play the Hot Times Classic. We only have 3 tournaments left for the Summer, let's keep it rolling. Stats are posted, as always GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks went north this past weekend and rebounded from last weeks second place finish in the States by winning the Firecracker Championship in Mechanicsburg, PA. The Chicks went 8-1-1 for the long weekend and finished on Sunday by winning 4 straight and claiming the Gold Championship. We really played some great ball this past weekend and we had lots of timely hitting. I'm really proud of the team as we were very shorthanded and everyone stepped up and finished strong. We ran our summer record to 21-4-1. We have our only week off of the summer next week and hopefully we can get healthy as we have an extremely busy July on tap. We are going to practice next Sunday at Midlothian High School to get ready for the Mid Summer Showcase in Va. Beach. Enjoy your week off, you girls earned it. The Chicks winning streak finally came to a end this past weekend at 44 wins in a row. The girls should be proud of that accomplishment, that's hard to do at any level. We went 5-3 for the weekend and finished 2nd in State Championship losing to a very scrappy Va. Edge team. The ball didn't bounce our way this weekend but we will regroup and head to Pennsylvania next week for the Firecracker Showcase in Mechanicsburg. We have to play better next weekend and I'm sure the girls will step up and start a new winning streak. Stats are posted, as always GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks started our Summer season the same way we finished the Fall, going 8-0 for the weekend and claiming the Stingrays Showcase Championship. It was a long, hot weekend with temperatures soaring into the mid 90's but that didn't slow down this team and our opponents could not slow us down either. We played some really good teams and found ways to win them all. I am really proud of the girls as they were not intimidated by any of the older teams with college players. We had lots of heroes and everyone contibuted to the success. They fought from start to finish and it paid off with another championship. With the 8 more victories that runs our winning streak to 44 games running over from the fall. Let's keep rolling next weekend and defend our 2011 Virginia State Championship.
