Dixie Chicks

The Chicks went 2-1 on Sunday in a local round robin friendly at the Dumbarton Complex. We looked good at times and a little rusty at times. I contribute the rust to missing practice last week because of rain. We have our last practice of the Fall on Wednesday at L.C. Bird. Hopefully we won't get rained on again. We did run our record for the Fall season to 22 wins, 2 losses and 2 ties. We need to work hard to finish strong in town next weekend and Myrtle Beach in November. Stats from today are posted. As always, GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks went on the road to Raleigh, NC this past weekend and had a good showing going 4-0-1 against some very tough competition. We won some good close games and and our only blemish was a 0-0 tie against the local host Team TFS. I was extremly happy with our defense only allowing 2 runs in 5 games. The Chicks travelled to Virginia Beach this past weekend to play in the Super Showcase Invitational and played some good teams and got out of town with a 4-1 record. We played really good all weekend and could have won every game. We came up a little short in our second game on Saturday but other than that minor setback we looked good and beat some big name Gold teams and I expect us to continue to improve every week. The Chicks headed to Salem this past weekend and went 7-0 to claim their 2nd straight championship in as many tournaments. We played some really good ball at times and beat some good teams on Sunday. It was quite warm for supposedly a Fall weekend but no one ever quit and we rattled off 7 straight to get the Championship hardware and run our record to 12-0-1 for the young season. The Chicks start the Fall with an undefeated weekend going 5-0-1 and claiming the Championship of the Labor Day Scramble in our first tournament of the season. We played pretty impressive ball for only 3 practices together. I expect us to get even better the more we practice and play together and all get to know each other a little better.
