Dixie Chicks

The Chicks travelled to Salem this past weekend and put on quite a show. The Chicks went 7-0 for the weekend and claiming the Salem Showcase Championship. The Chicks had big performances from every player and finished first out of 22 teams from all parts of Virginia. The Chicks team stats were very impressive, 60 runs scored, 86 hits and 7 home runs and we only allowed 2 runs all weekend and the most impressive stat is zero errors in the 7 games played. We had lots of college coaches watching and all of them were impressed as was myself. Let's keep working hard at practice to get better because when you are through improving.... you are through. We don't play again until Oct. 10th in the Super Fusion Classic in Raleigh,NC. Stats are posted, as always GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks started their fall season with 2 wins on Sunday in a round robin friendly and played really good ball for our first time together. We need to keep working hard and improving each week. We have practice on Wednesday at Midlothian High School as we need to get ready for Salem in 2 weeks. Great job ladies, as always GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks went South to play our final tournament of the Summer in sunny Ocoee, Florida and didn't disappoint. We lost early in elimination play and had to battle thru the losers bracket to a 4th place finish. We played 13 games in the Florida heat and played some really good teams. I was proud of the girls performance, they played great. Especially on Friday with our backs up against the wall we won 4 straight games and all of them in shutout fashion. 28 straight shutout innings on Friday. Then we had to be back on Saturday morning at 7:00 am for a battle with local rival Richmond Storm and pulled out a 4-1 victory only to get beat in the next game to a very good Team Hammer from Florida. They gave us both our losses in the double elimination tournament, 1-0 and 2-1. I had a great time this past week and I hope all the girls and parents did also. I'm going to miss our Seniors that are leaving for college, some of you have been playing for the Chicks for a long time. I've seen you grow from little girls with pigtails to pretty young women. I wish all of you the best in college and hope you achieve everything in life you want. You girls deserve the best so don't settle for anything less. Work hard in school and play hard on the field. I will make it to some games to see you play and I want all of you to know that anytime you need anything or you just want to talk or just say hello please call me. You girls have been a big part of my life for a long time. Final Summer stats are posted. As always, GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks travelled to Rocky Mount NC this past weekend to play in our last showcase of the season and tune up for Nationals next week in Florida. We played in the "A" Bracket and played some really good teams and to come out of there with a 4-1 was not too bad at all. The girls played great defense and we got some great pitching as well with 3 shutout wins. We also had some timely hitting. I was proud of the way the girls played but we can't let up now. We have our last practice of the Summer season on Wednesday at Midlothian High School. We leave for Florida this weekend, let's keep working hard and finish strong at Nationals. The Chicks travelled to Raleigh NC this past weekend and went 3-1 in the Cardinal Classic Showcase. We played some really good teams and played some good ball at times and showed very well. We did get miss our Friday night game because of the monsoon rainstorm. We will practice this Wednesday at Bird at 6:00 to get ready for this upcoming weekend in Rocky Mount. Let's keep working hard to get ready for Nationals in Florida the following week. See you Wednesday at practice. As always, GO CHICKS !!!
