Dixie Chicks

Our Chicks went north to Youngstown, Ohio this past week for PONY Nationals and finished 2nd out of 80 teams going 9-1 for the week. We played some really great teams and had some really exciting games winning 6 games by 1 run. We eventually lost the National Championship to a great Connecticut Eliminators team in 10 innings 3-2 in another exciting game. That one gave me a few more gray hairs but was still a great game and I was proud of everyone. The girls had a great showing and I'm sure they made all their parents proud. We did show the rest of the country we can play ball in Virginia and everyone there knew when they play the Chicks they were in for a game. The girls got along great and everyone had fun all week. We play next week in our last tournament of the Summer in Softball Nation Nationals, let's go finish strong and Win this thing. As always, GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks went to Chesapeake, Va. last weekend and claimed the PONY State Championship going 4-0 before the rain came and washed us out. We had allowed only 1 run in the 4 games so we were crowned State Champs. We head to Ohio on Friday for PONY Nationals. We finished second last year, let's win it this year. We are playing good ball and seem to peaking and the right time. See you in Ohio, as always GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks went 6-1 this weekend in the Queen of the Hill. We played great ball most of the long weekend winning our one game on Friday then getting rained out and having to play 5 games on Saturday winning them all  but I think the long Saturday 8:00 am to midnight took its toll on Sunday and came out a little flat and lost to a good Carolina Flames team that eventually won the tournament. We were the number one seed out of 27 teams. We did beat the Flames on Saturday but as you know tournaments aren't won on Saturday. I was still very proud of the girls as we improved our record to 24-4 in the Summer and 45-12 overall from the Fall of last year and this Summer. We play PONY States next, then off to Ohio for Nationals. As always, GO CHICKS !!

The Chicks went north this past weekend to Pennsylvania to play in the Firecracker Showcase and went 9-1 for the tournament beating a lot of great teams from all over the country. We came up a little short in the Championship game against another Virginia team Yorktown Revolution but nevertheless it was still a great weekend finishing 2nd out of 69 teams. We played great team ball all weekend and I was very proud of the all the young ladies. We had big performances by lots of different players and everyone contributed to the great weekend. Great job ladies, lets go win Queen of the Hill this upcoming weekend. As always, GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks won the Rock & Fire Championship this past weekend beating a good Orion Hunter team in the Championship 3-1. The Chicks got great pitching and played flawless defense allowing only 2 runs in 6 games in the tournament. It was a hot weekend but its all worth it when you play great and finish strong. I was proud of all the girls and I'm sure your parents are also. The Chicks are set to roll North next weekend playing in the Firecracker College Showcase in Mechanicsburg, Pa. Give your all every play and we can do great things. See you at practice on Tuesday.
