Dixie Chicks

The Chicks went on the road for our first tournament of the Summer and played some really good ball winning 8 games in a row then finally losing in the Championship game. The girls really hit the ball well and played some great defense. I was proud of the effort by the young ladies as Sunday was scorching hot and we were at the field all day playing 5 games. We are in a condensed season because of school ball lasting so long, hopefully we will get back to normal next season. Don’t have much time off as we have a busy July ahead. June 24-27 – Atlantic Coast Summer Showcase -Va. Beach, VA
July 9-11 – East Coast Showdown – Richmond, VA
July 24-25 – Commonwealth Games – Lynchburg, VA
July 28-Aug. 1 – Triple Crown Nationals – Myrtle Beach, SC

Our Chicks put together a great Saturday in Powhatan going 3-0 then get beat by the rain on Sunday. That was disappointing as I thought that we were starting to play some good ball and I had a good feeling about Sunday. We still have one weekend left in Va. Beach in the USA Champions Cup. We have now won 5 in a row, I would love to go to the Beach and win 6 or 7 more games to finish the fall strong. I sent out schedule for the Beach for Nov. 14th. Be at Princess Anne at 10:30 to warm up. Stats are posted, as always GO CHICKS !!!

Our Chicks played some solid ball in Fall States but came up a bit short in a good 5-4 game on Sunday. We let it get away as we had a 4-2 lead late. You get better playing good teams in adverse conditions than beating teams 12-0. We lost 2 games this weekend and it was to the two teams that played in the Championship so we aren’t far away from really good. I hope everyone enjoyed their week off as it was a messy rainy weekend anyway. We practice again on Sunday, Oct 18 at LC Bird to get ready for Virgina Beach. Stats are posted, see you Sunday. Our Chicks went on the road to Lynchburg to play in a Randolph College Friendly this past weekend and played some really good ball going 2-1. Gameday started out a little chilly but ended up being a rather nice day for ball. We came up a run short in our first game but came back for 9-1 and 8-2 wins later in the day. We need to keep getting better every time out as we have Fall States coming up in a couple weeks. I was proud of everyone this past weekend, let’s keep it rolling at States in Richmond.
