Dixie Chicks

Our Chicks went on the road for the first time this Fall to a wet Salem on Saturday. It rained off and on all day to make for some miserable conditions at times. We played alright for our first time out but still need to improve on some things. Sunday weather was much better but fields were sort of muddy from all Saturday’s rain. We did some things really well but still made a handful of mistakes and as you know mistakes usually cost you at this level. I was still proud as we battled to the end of every game. We play in Lynchburg this upcoming Saturday. Stats are posted, as always GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks are getting ready for Nationals in Myrtle Beach, SC this week. This has been the strangest season of softball in my 26 years of coaching. We had to change our schedule multiple times for this pandemic. Social distancing and Covid are words that have never been spoken before this season. I’m not sure it will be much different in the fall either. Colleges and High Schools are canceling sports every day. We are going to do our best to get thru this crazy summer season and hope we can play in the fall. We have been strapped with injuries much of the season but we made no excuses and continue to battle. Let’s get our game faces ready for a nice week in Myrtle Beach. Start hydrating now as it may be warm in SC. I don’t see how it could be much warmer than some of the tournaments we already played this Summer though. It has been scorching hot almost every time we hit the field. Stats are posted, GO CHICKS !!!

Our Chicks have put 12 games under our belt for the season and seem to be improving as we go. Everyone was behind when we started as no one had played any school ball this year. We had to change our schedule completely with the Covid affecting many tournaments. We only have 3 tournaments left so let’s try to get better every game and end the season strong. The Chicks went on the road to Va. Beach for our last tournament of 2019 and played some of our best ball of the year. We finished 2nd in USA Champions Cup and played shorthanded all weekend. I was proud of everyone as we made no excuses about injuries and everyone picked each other up. It was a good weekend for us even though the Championship game got away from us. I’m looking forward to big things from the Chicks next Summer. Sorry I took so long to get the final Fall Stats posted but they are up now. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again at the Christmas party on Dec. 14th. As always, GO CHICKS !!!

The Chicks took to the road this past weekend and went 3-0 on Saturday in Va. Beach playing some of our best ball this fall but the rain beat us on Sunday with a total washout. I was proud of how we played being shorthanded but didn’t miss a beat. We only have 2 weeks left in our Fall season. We play in Powhatan next weekend early Saturday.
