Chicks go 4-1-1 in rain shortened Queen of the Hill

The Chicks played this past weekend in our only tournament of the year in Richmond and went 4-1-1 in the rain shortened Queen of the Hill. We played great all weekend only giving up 4 runs for the 6 games. We went into Sunday as the 3 seed and were as good as anybody in the field and certainly had a shot of Winning the event but unfortunately we got beat by the rain as they cancelled all of Sunday play. We have a weekend off this weekend before we head to Raleigh, NC the following weekend to play in the Cardinal Classic. See you at practice on Wednesday. Chicks Finish 3rd in Firecracker Showcase

The Chicks went on the road again this past weekend to Hagerstown, Md. and finished 3rd out of 36 teams in the Firecracker Showcase. We played a lot of really good teams and ended with a 7-2 record for the long weekend. We got some big performances from a lot of different young ladies and that's what makes good teams. I was proud of everyone, great job ladies. We play this Friday in Queen of the Hill in Richmond. I will send out the schedule as soon as I receive it. Let's play hard and win this thing. As always, GO CHICKS !!

Chicks Win Mid-Summer Classic

The Chicks went on the road again this weekend to Pennsylvania to take on their best and came out as Champions of the Mid-Summer Classic. We were short-handed with injuries and graduations but in classic Chick style we pulled out a Championship 10-9 in 8 innings against the Philipsburg Hurricanes coming from behind 4 different times. The Chicks were down 4-3 in the 3rd and we tied it, then fell behind 5-4 and tied it in the bottom of the 6th, then fell behind 8-5 in the 7th and scored 3 in the bottom of the 7th to tie it again. Then we gave it up again to fall behind 9-8 going to the bottom of the 8th but the Chicks found a way to get 2 in the 8th to win it 10-9. The girls played great and I was proud of everyone. The Chicks went 5-0-1 for the weekend. Great job ladies, as always GO CHICKS !!!

Chicks finish 2nd in BRYC Classic

The Chicks travelled to Northern Virginia this past weekend and did not disappoint. The girls played great all weekend going 5-1 and finishing 2nd out of 24 teams. We came up a little short in the Championship game losing 1-0 to the Richmond Storm in a game we had several chances but just couldn't push a run across when we needed one. We did beat 2 different Shamrock teams in the same day and not many teams can say that they have ever done that. We have practice on Tuesday to get ready for our Pennsylvania trip on Friday. I was proud of everyone. As always, GO CHICKS !!

BRYC Classic up next

The Chicks are gearing up to start play June 6th in Annandale, Va. at the BRYC Classic. Keep your eyes open for e-mails about practice. We have almost everybody in Regionals and we will try to practice around High School schedules.
