Dixie Chicks

The Chicks finished their 2008 Fall Season in style going 5-0 and winning the bracket in the Myrtle Beach College Showcase. We showed a lot of heart coming from behind in 4 of the 5 games. I was proud of everyone as we were shorthanded with more injuries than we have ever had and we still found a way to pull all 5 games out. We never made any excuses and played tough from start to finish. As I have always said "excuses are for losers." We don't make them no matter what the situation is. The off season is upon us but I already miss it. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself for the next few months. Winter workouts will start in late January. Final Stats will be up soon. Congratulations to Alexa Tuck as she signs scholarship at Mount St. Mary's in Maryland. I will miss you all and I wish everyone a Happy Holiday season. As always, GO CHICKS !!

The Chicks went to Salem this past weekend to play in the Va. Tech Showcase and showed well going 3-1 for the weekend. We had our moments this weekend and our only loss came to the Carolina Cardinals 2-0 and we left 10 on base. We had 3 nice wins over some really good teams. I was proud of everyone as we were shorthanded and we made no excuses. We played hard every game and thats all you can ask. Halloween Bash in Colonial Heights is next. As always, GO CHICKS !!!

Our Chicks went to Rock Hill, SC for the Super Fusion Showcase this past weekend and played some good ball and showed very well going 4-1. We played in a tough bracket with some real quality teams and winning 4 games against that type of competition showed everyone that the Chicks can play some ball. It was a long day on Saturday waiting to get started but all the delays didn't seem to affect them at all. Everyone got along great and I am excited about seeing what this team can accomplish down the road.  See you at practice next Sunday as we get ready for Salem the following week. Our Chicks played this weekend at Bird Complex and looked great going 3-0. I was really pleased for our first time playing together this fall. We had some all-star performances and I am really looking forward to Rock Hill in 2 weeks. We did have an injury to Amanda and she will be out the rest of the fall. She is tough and will be back for Summer ball I'm sure. We are going to miss you Amanda, get well soon. Let's keep working hard and improving each week. As always, GO CHICKS!!!

 

The Chicks ended their 2008 Summer Season finishing 2nd in Softball Nation Nationals. We fell into the losers bracket early falling to the Lady Orioles 1-0 in 10 innings and had to fight our way back to the Championship game by winning 5 straight games and beating the same Lady Orioles to get in the Championship. We then fell to Richmond Elite to claim another 2nd. Fighting your way back through the losers bracket tends to builds character. As you girls get older you will learn that things are not always easy and you can learn life lessons from working hard and doing things that seem impossible.  I was still very proud of everyone as we finished our Summer with a 45-8 record and adding in last Fall the Chicks went 66-16. We are moving to 18U in the fall and we will be having tryouts at Midlothian High School on August 23rd at 4:00 pm. I'm looking forward to another successful campaign next season as we try to get you girls into College playing ball somewhere. Final Stats will be up in the next few days.
